Ok, I'm looking to pull a 4h head to head. Not sure if I even NEED a 1ton?

looking at an 2008 F350 XLT with 8 cyl. turbo diesel, auto trans, dual wheels, 33k miles, just under $30,000.

OR

Dodge 2007 3500 SLT, 6 cyl. Turbo Diesel, auto trans, dual wheels, 55k miles, just under $30,000.

So, I know there are a lot of issues with the 08 Fords, but I don't know how to tell if this one will have issues? I prefer Ford over Dodge as a rule, (have a 97 F250 diesel that I love!), but with the engine issues I have heard of on the 08's the Dodge might be better? but it is same price for 20k more miles AND a year older... Both have rhino lining and tow packages/ball hitch in bed.

Any thoughts? This truck will sadly be just a tow truck and I haul 6 times a year or so, not a heavy duty every weekend kind of deal, and truck will most likely be a garage princess when not in use.
TIA

What engine does the Dodge have??? 5.9 or 6.7???
Either way go with the Dodge... The 5.9's are GREAT, the 6.7's are good as well but has the epa crap but has a factory exhaust brake. Mine is an 07 with the 6.7 and love it...... But I also spent around a $1000 on mine to get rid of the extra mess that hurts theses trucks. Now I have more power, better fuel mileage too! The 08 to 10 Fords was BAD fuel mileage, 2 turbos to mess with and tons of warranty issues. The Fords can also be fixed to run right and better fuel mileage too, also cost around a grand, then you still have no exhaust brake..... If you ever pull with a truck that has one you will not use anything else.

I'm not sure on the engine of the dodge. I'm actually not sure if it is still there, this morning's phone call was iffy, lol. Time will tell. :) I'm now not sure that I even need a 3500... I might be fine with a 2500. Time will tell. :)

As a rule of thumb or just my preferences, I'd go with the Ford. :)
