I have a 2000 FL60 sprotchasis witha a 6 speed allison transmission. My question is about the transmission shifting. When i put the retarder (pac brake) on, the transmission shifts from 6th to 4th. Is this normal. Seems like this would be hard on the transmission. Any thoughts?

Thanks for the info.
I know when it goes from 6 to 4 it is a little extreme.

5th AND 6th are both overdrives...4th is normally a 1.00 ratio...

Here are the way the allison are ratioed for the duramax
