I have a 2004 chevy 2500hd with a diesel and am interested in a three horse living quarters trailer. Trailers in this category appear to weigh between 8200 and 10500 without horses. so figure 10000-14500 with 1-3 horses and gear. will this truck be more than sufficient for this size trailer. I have seen other post with people hauling considerably more with same truck. Total weight is well under max trailer weight and pin weight is under (assuimg 25%) . thanks

I have an '04 Dmax like yours and haul a 3 horse GN with a 6' short wall living quarters with no problems. Lot's of power, too much in fact according to the last police officer who pulled me over.

I've seen other Dmax's pulling bigger trailers than mine. Check the owner's manual for sure.

My mother has the same type truck and hauls an 8ft wide Hart 3H with a 10ft LQ... she's in a hilly area she has more than enough power as well.

She loves her rig.

Hi and welcome to the forum.
I have an '03 and haul a 4 Horse head to head trailer that is 8ft wide.
The only time I didn't have enough power was fighting the headwinds on I-80 westbound through Wyoming when EMPTY ! 8 ft wide and 7'6" interior height translates to pushing a lot of air.
I guess I had enough power, I just didn't want to drive with 2 MPG showing on the DIC for HOURS while only making 50 MPH !
