Had some issues that were repaired today under warranty, but the dealership is trying to tell me I need to get my differential fluids changed if I do a lot of hauling (I have 34000 miles on the truck currently).

The service manual (I thought, don't have it in front of me) says 50,000 miles though?

Any thoughts on this? Or is the dealer guy just trying to sell me something that I don't need?

He could be right. All depends on weight of load, how often you tow, what conditions you tow in. The owners manual will show when they think it should be serviced but 99% of the time they base this infromation on regular everyday driving. They just use a "blanket" statement in all the books.

Like on my Dodge it list xx-miles for diff service, xx miles for tranny and so on, but Dodge has a section in the back that states something like for extremely dirty or harsh conditions the service may vary and alot of heavy towing would be thought of to be "harsh conditions".

In my opinion if you tow that often and you are that close to the service mileage I would do it! Better safe than sorry..... My truck just turned 46-k miles and I tow everyweekend (short trips) and mine is getting changed during my next oil change. And mine is NOT hard driving or hard towing..
