Call your dealer for the best answer. It is my understanding that when one of these engines(any of the newer diesel engines) goes into active regeneration, it needs to be able to complete the cycle. What it is doing is building enough heat in the particulate filter to completely burn(clean) what is in there, so shutting it off would defeat the purpose. Again, you really want to check with your dealer, and if they are not knowledgeable about trucks, have them help you get the right answer.

Leave it running! A couple of times will not hurt but if this keeps up, you will stop up the POS DPF then the manufacture will find away to blame the need for a $1000.00 replacement on you.
So just make it a habbit to leave it running while in this mode.
I have not noticed the regen on my 07 Dodge yet with 29-k miles.
