Subject: Enough truck? I think I'm OK - advice appreciated

I have an '08 Toyota Tundra with tow package and am shopping for a 2H trailer. Advice from a trusted friend is to get a gooseneck but many have said the truck can't handle a GN.
But -- I've found a Featherlite 2H GN that I think will work. Would appreciate your input.
Data: Truck Payload capacity is 1,680. Trailer weight empty is 3,400. I will only haul one horse - but he's big -- about 1,400 lbs. To be safe I'm figuring 2,000 lbs for horse plus gear in the trailer. Dealer says tongue weight for this trailer is 15% of trailer weight. So with horse and gear I figure tongue weight of 810lbs. So with two people in truck at ~avg of 165 per person (I'm less - figure others will be more than me) and with "stuff" in truck round up to 400lbs in the truck. So puts total weight in the truck at 1,210 which gives me good leeway on truck weight.
I'm good on rated tow capacity of the truck (which is 10,600) and way short of GCVWR of 16,000lbs.
So with all this I think the trailer dealer is correct in saying I'll be fine.
But on another board I'm on many folks have said the Tundra "can't handle a GN trailer". My logic is that the trailer I'm looking at weighs less than many 2H bumper bull. And, my understanding is that a GN is more stable and easier to tow than a BP.
So what do you all think? Will I be OK with this trailer (with one large horse) and this truck???
Thanks
