I am thinking of buying a 2009 Dodge 2500hd.  What have the problems been with the 6.0 and the 6.7 cummins engines? What is the difference in fuel mileage.  I need a 4x4 in this area, and pull a steel 30 ft 3 horse gooseneck.

First off, Dodge does not have a 6.0 engine. It is a 6.7 and the fuel mileage on a single wheel 4x4 if you drive it right is going to be around 15/17 or so unloade and around 12 or so loaded.
The major problem with these engine is the EPA made them install a worthless DPF on the exhaust, egr and cooler. Dodge has had alot of issues with the DPF becoming full and needing replaced.

My truck is a 2007.5 Dodge Ram 3500 Quad Cab c/c truck with the 6.7 and 6 speed auto trans. I have 41-k on it now and I got sick of have to take it to the dealer to have the CEL checked out, so at 27-k miles I bought a DPF delete kit and aftermarket programmer and now the truck runs great and no CEL! My fuel mileage went from 14 unloaded to 18 and 11 loaded to almost 14......
Go to www.cumminsforum.com and click on the forums link on top and scroll down to the link for the 6.7 engines.. Has alot of infomation on these trucks.

No problem, if you have any other question just ask! Something I forgot to add, the exhaust brakes on these trucks are super! That is the main reason I bought a Dodge.

And if you leave your truck stock, it is best to leave the EB on ALL THE TIME! It helps with the regin process.
