My truck has a rear seal leaking and I wanted to check with the experts on this forum to see if it is imperative that I get it repaired immediately? What is an reasonable expectation for repair costs? What has to be done to repair it?
The truck has 85K and looks and runs great otherwise.

Before you spend the money for the rear seal job, either check or have someone check just under the turbo housing on top, there is a sensor on some of these that start leaking. Something else, make sure the oil filter is not leaking.

Good info. If it is the rear seal, at some point you will want to fix it, as it won't get better on its own. For me, it would depend on how much it's leaking now, and if I might see clutch or transmission work coming up in the near future. Maybe a way to help save on the labor cost.
