Ok, have BIG issue. Kids' dad came from Denver down to Southern Nevada and truck was fine till Salina UT, when engine light came on, oil pressure gauge went to zero. Stopped, checked oil, it was fine but oil pressure sending unit was a little loose. Restarted truck and it was fine till Beaver UT when check engine light came on again but oil gauge continued to work this time. Major issue is that when truck does this, it will only run up to about 2k on the tack. SO, shut truck off, restart and all is fine for however long the truck sees fit; 2 miles or 2 hours. Have one of those after market code readers and have found none. He HAS to go home tomorrow, any ideas on this little puzzle would sure be appreciated!

Sounds like the oil pressure switch that is mounted on the side of the high pressure oil pump (sets right in front of the fuel filer housing) When looking down into the engine it will be on the left side.
These trucks run the fuel system off of the oil pressure and if this switch is bad or going bad it will not let the truck run or run right. Most of the time if it is bad there will be oil around where the plug goes into it or leaking oil around the housing. Only about a 10 min. fix if you can get the part from your local parts store.
