It's sure not good for it. Unless you've just finished a hard pull and need to let your engine idle a few minutes to let the temperatures stabilize and let the turbo cool down, you're better off not to idle your diesel engine. If you do have to leave it running, you should set the idle up to 1000 rpm's. You'll get a more complete fuel burn that way.
