Sounds like a nice truck with plenty of power for what you describe.

Go to the drivers door jam and look at the manufactures sticker....It will tell you what the truck is rated for....I am going to guess it should say somewhere around 9500 lbs max...GN setup, over the axles....NOW, there are alot of people out there that put airbags on there 2500 and chip it and then they feel they can pull 18,000 lbs with there 2500...don't laugh, it happens ALOT on our roads, RV'rs expecially...BUT, this is unsafe !!!!...To be safe, try staying close that number that the manufacture puts out..you can go over it, but don't abuse it because you will drive your truck into the ground and STOPPING will become an issue.....

ncsuacd - 2007-11-13 9:05 PM Vegas: Is it a gooseneck trailer? If it is..... Would you mind posting here and tell me how you like your GN set up with the short bed? I havent bought a truck yet (been shopping for a year) because I am afraid of that short bed with a GN, and cant find a long bed I like!!!! Thanks!
I have a 05 Chevy 2500HD Duramax with a short bed and it pulls my gooseneck fine. I have an 03 Exiss 3hr with a 4ftSW...my hitch is a 5th wheel set up with the plate with the ball on the rails.

Truck manufactures use to publish a trailer towing guide. I think Ford is the only one left doing it. But on their websites, they do have a towing guide with weight ratings, payload etc. I go to the new truck media launches and have the info they give to the press. That's were my info comes from.

I've got a '07 chevy 2500HD short wheel base with a 6.0 vortec gas engine and I pull a 32FT. steel stock trailer all the time. An '06 durmax should pull a 3h slant fine. when I pull The 32 my truck barley strains for power.
