Actually you don't want to let any vehicle sit for an extended time. (weeks or more) The tires get flat spots, the oil drains from internal engine surfaces, the batteries self discharge, mice build nests, fuel deteriorates, water condenses in the engine and fuel tank, etc. A high cost diesel just barely pays for itself in fuel efficiency, thus most folks use them all the time.

I have pulled a Sundowner 720 three horse with a 6 1/2 foot living quarters ... THe first truck was an older (96) chevy dually, then traded for a 99 FOrd dually 350 diesel 7.3. Gas mileage , power and stopping were DRAMATICALLY inproved on all accounts. Either a Ford diesel or Chevy duramax would work without sway or drag on the truck. Just remember to be safe and haul smart!! Also install an electric brake controller to engage the electric brakes on your trailer.... Good Luck

IMO, I would not attempt to pull a GN LQ with a 1/2 ton anything. If you're hovering near the max weight for your tow vehicle, then your load it too heavy. Better to be safe than sorry.
