Ok, I've read some of the posts about this motor. Does anybody have one that they like? Are all of them bad? Please tell me all you can. Could you get a bumper to bumper warrant and be alright. Was considering buying one. Really good price, less than 15k with 24k miles. We have a 350 with the 7.3 to pull the horse trailer. Won't be using this one for haulin or pulling. Please just tell it straight! Am I cracy or what?

The 6 liter does fine till around 70 or 80 thousand miles and thenyou start having alot of problems that can be fixed for around 2 or 3 thousand but i would stick with the 7.3 if thats what youalready have its alot nicer truck they also had a lot of problems with the wiring harness on the 03 and 04 major improvments were made in the 05

The major problem with the 6.0 motor was cooling! There is an egr delete kit that is out now and solves the problem. I have had 7.3's, 6.0's and both Cummins engines that are out and there is good and bad with all of them. I am in the used car business and deal in used trucks and have since 1983. I have had 6.0 motors with 200-k untouched that has run better that 50-k mile trucks!
Yes the 7.3 is hard to beat but trying to find one with low miles is tuff!
The extended warranty is a joke! Not worth the money. read the fine print!
The main thing to check on the 6.0 motor is the radiator cap or overflow tank. Remove the cap and smell of it. If it smells like diesel or exhaust you have an egr problem. I have bought a hand full of these trucks cheap cause people was told they had head gasket trouble and turned out to be egr cooler leaking.
