I am looking for advice on the AFE magnum intake system. Does it really work and provide the increased HP and torque they claim? Is the air coming in through the filter cleaner or dirtier than what the original paper filter delivers? Any known problems?Has anyone tried the Pro Guard 7 OEM filter instead of the original paper filter? Thanks!

Have one on mine.Maybe faster turbo spool up.Lower EGT'S is the main reason for use.No increase in mpg.NO oiled filter including the Pro Guard 7 filters as good as a QUALITY paper filter.I also use a outerwears pre filter on mine.Offers some water proofing and filters the BIG stuff out first.

I have a detailed article on aFe's PRO-Guard 7 at http://mrtruck.net/proguard7.htm it was made for dirty conditions and is washable with the same filteration numbers as stock paper.

The articles and testing sites I have read puts it SLIGHTLY below Fleetguard paper filters. If I had it to do over again I would modifly and use a BHAF(Big Honking Air Filter) A factory CONE shaped for a Big Rig. Lots ofr air let in and LOTS of filter media etc.
