I am looking at a 2005 Dodge Ram 2500 quad cab 4x2 5.7L Hemi V8. Here are the towing capacities of it from the Dodge website:
With 3.73 Axle Ratio You Can Tow 9200 lbs
Gross Vehicle Weight Rating(GVWR)=8800
Payload=3165
Curb Weight=5635
Curb WeightFront/Rear=3081/2554
GAWRFront/Rear=4000/6010
Gross Combination Weight Rating(GCWR)=15000
I only have a 2 horse GN (17 foot long) so I know this truck will be okay for this, but in trailer terms what will I be able to pull safely with this? 3H, 4H?

"but in trailer terms what will I be able to pull safely with this?"
here is my useless opinion........
in truck terms....not much more than a 1/2 ton. i really dont understand the whole "hemi" in the 3/4 truck, granted its a strong motor in the 1/2 ton, but the GCWR of the 3/4 ton shows it wanting in that combo. yes it has a higher payload cap. but with the same motor pulling more weight? i mean, come on you can option a 1/2 ford to GCWR of 15300. i wouldnt even think about the 3.73 ratio, and the 4.10 isnt much better. i probably would look for a used cummins if you are going to stay with a dodge. hey dodge bring back the v10 for those of us who dont want to pay for/listen to the diesel!!! let me get off this soapbox now.

In down the road terms? My Bison, 3 Horse with 8ft LQ weighs 6800 pounds. Add 3 1000 pound horses and your Hemi just took a dump by 600 pounds before you load hay, water, tack, food, clothes, chairs, table, generator or any other ammenity you can think of. Buy a diesel 3/4 or 1 ton truck, any brand you like, and get better fuel economy, longer life engine, and piece of mind that you have the option to go bigger some day. My two cents.
