Thought that I would put this here, there was article in the Seattle Times about these trucks. It seems that when they designed the 4500 series they were thinking GARBAGE TRUCK. But they never expected the response they had. I believe they said they had expected to sell 500, seems that they are selling twice as many. Apparently there is a following now for theses big truck. They were writing about how much they cost, then people put 25,000 dollars into them after they have them in upgrades. Oh, and they said the top speed is 80 MPH. Seems it has taken over from the Hummer as the big toy of choice.

Hi the C4500/5500 have been around for a few years now. It's one way to get a lower axle ratio with the Duramax. What's kept Ford F450/550 so far ahead is the 4x4 option that the C4500/5500 hasn't had until this year. The tilt forward hood is nice and the wide front axle with I think a 53 degree front wheel cut has allowed a tight turning radius, better than Ford until 2005. The C4500/5500 has the same cab as the GM full size vans. Which explains why the trucks are so tall. And even taller in 4x4. They do have a heavy duty frame, axles and suspension. Soon I'll be reviewing a C4500 with the Monroe bed as the optional factory bed for the cab and chassis. We'll find out how it fits under horse trailers and 5th wheels.

Kind of like that Diet Pepsi ad where everyone is driving Diet Pepsi trucks to be cool?
